Mario Rentuma is co-owner of Lluminaire Salon. Born and raised in Annapolis, he began his hairstyling career in 1983 at Giuseppe’s Hair Studio in Parkville, where he spent 21 years under the leadership and guidance of Giuseppe Castellano.
In October 2004, Mario partnered with fellow stylist Dean Krapf to launch Lluminaire Salon in Towson.
A senior cosmetologist and strong advocate of continuing professional education, Mario has trained numerous times with the Vidal Sassoon Academy, the Paul Mitchell Associates Program and the L’Oréal Academy for Color, focusing on color foundation, color correction and balayage. His training at L’Oréal also includes “Discovering Your Inner Artist” with Carlo Novoa and Yureesh Hooker.
Specializing in razor cutting, Mario also is trained in Sherri Renée Hair Couture for Parisian Hair Enhancements and is certified in Keratin Smoothing Systems.
In 2002, Mario became part of Local 798 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E.), hair department. His work in film and for HBO includes The Wire, The Visiting, National Treasure 2 and Jackie. His list of celebrity clients has included Daniel Craig, Ed Harris, Anna Chlumsky and Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

Each day, I am blessed to have the privilege of adding to the beauty of life by using the art of hair design as a vehicle to help inspire the self-esteem of others. And every day I am grateful for the mentors and teachers who have invested in my career and who have allowed me to learn and grow from their wisdom and experience.

Dean Krapf is co-owner of Lluminaire Salon. A graduate of Marc’s School of Hair Design, he received training in precision hair cutting and razor cutting from Giuseppe Castellano in Baltimore. He twice completed coursework with Vidal Sassoon in Santa Monica, California, and also trained with Vidal Sassoon in Atlanta. Having completed continuing education work with Trevor Sorbie Signature Sessions and Vivian Mackinder’s “The Art of Hairdressing,” both in New York, Dean is also a four-time participant in the John Paul Mitchell Global Forum in Las Vegas.
Dean received extensive training at L’Oréal Professional Academy in New York. He twice completed training in “Fundamentals of Color” with Nancy Braun, under whom he also trained in balayage and corrective color techniques. Dean’s training at L’Oréal also includes “Discovering Your Inner Artist” with Carlo Novoa and Yureesh Hooker and “Colorful Hair” with Christy Cosgrove. In addition, Dean attended “Tru Beauty – Pioneers of Painting,” led by Ian McCabe and Christine Silverman in Southampton, Pennsylvania. He received his certification in Keratin Smoothing Systems at Lluminaire Salon.
Also an accomplished make-up artist, Dean studied make-up artistry at Von Lee International School of Aesthetics Inc. in Pikesville. He completed training for Hair in Film in Los Angeles and is a member of Local 798 of the International Alliance of Theatrical Stage Employees (I.A.T.S.E.), hair department. He also is trained in Sherri Renée Hair Couture for Parisian Hair Enhancements.
A member of T.H.E. Artist Agency in Washington, D.C., for 25 years, Dean has performed hair and make-up work for hundreds of editorial and celebrity photoshoots. His work has appeared in numerous local, regional, national, and international publications, including Vanity Fair, People Magazine, Modern Salon, American Salon, Washingtonian Magazine, Washingtonian Bride and Groom, Washingtonian Working Mother, Baltimore Magazine, Baltimore Style Magazine, GL Magazine, and Virginia Life Magazine.
Brittani Davis joined Lluminaire Salon in 2005. She enjoys the artistry of balayage and describes her signature look as soft and natural. A graduate of Robert Paul Academy for Cosmetology Arts and Sciences in Lutherville, Brittani also attended Von Lee Von Lee International School of Aesthetics, Inc. in Pikesville for make-up artistry.
Brittani’s continuing education includes training with Vidal Sassoon for a week-long cutting class in Santa Monica, California, and a two-day cutting class in Atlanta. Her training with L’Oréal Professional Academy in New York has included “Fundamentals of Color,” “Corrective Color,” “Balayage” with Nancy Braun, “Balayage Advanced,” “Balayage LIVE,” “Discovering Your Inner Artist” with Carlo Novoa and Yureesh Hooker and “Colorful Hair” with Christy Cosgrove. Brittani also attended “Tru Beauty – Pioneers of Painting,” led by Ian Mcabe and Christine Silverman and “Color with Ian McCabe” in Southampton, Pennsylvania. In addition, she completed a Balayage class at Ian McCabe Studio in Washington, D.C. Brittani is also certified in Keratin Smoothing Systems.
Brittani has worked on fashion shows for Ruth Shaw and has assisted Dean Krapf with photo shoots for Baltimore Magazine, Washingtonian Magazine and Bloomingdale’s.
Along with her hair artistry, Brittani is also a gifted make-up artist and is accomplished in both bridal and editorial hairstyling and make-up application.

Jordan joined Lluminaire Salon in 2017. A graduate of the Robert Paul Academy of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences in Lutherville, Jordan’s interests include bold colors, fashion colors, edgy cuts and styles as well as up-dos, braids, bridal and fashion make-up, and alternative fashion and styles.
Jordan’s in-house training at Lluminaire includes balayage, hair cutting and shaping, and make-up application as well as a L’Oréal Colorful Color Class. She is also certified in Keratin Smoothing Systems.

Julie Glass is a 2002 graduate of the Robert Paul Academy of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences in Lutherville. She began her hairstyling career at Giuseppi’s Hair Studio in Parkville, where she met and worked with LLuminaire founders Mario Rentuma and Dean Krapf. When they launched Lluminaire in 2004, Julie became an original member of the team.
Julie has twice attended the Paul Mitchell Signature Gathering in Las Vegas, where her coursework included classes in color, cutting, formal styling, business training, advanced cutting and editorial hair design. Her continuing professional education also includes training with L’Oréal in New York, where she completed a “Foundations of Color” class and color classes focusing on reds and brunettes and balayage; and an ABC cutting class with Vidal Sassoon in Atlanta. Julie also attended a hair convention in Ocean City, where her training included Martin Parson’s up-do class, color demos, and advanced facial waxing.
Her in-salon training at Lluminaire includes a L’Oréal colorful class, balayage techniques, men’s cutting, and training and certification in Keratin Smoothing Systems.
Lauren Krapf specializes in balayage, color, keratin treatments, long hair, formal blow outs and styling for formal events. A 2011 graduate of the Robert Paul Academy of Cosmetology Arts & Sciences in Lutherville, Lauren has a background in visual and graphic arts and has worked in the cosmetology industry since 2004.
Lauren’s continuing professional education includes training at the L'Oréal Professional Academy in New York, where her classes included “Discovering Your Inner Artist” with Carlo Novoa and Yureesh Hooker and “Balayage” with Joshua Rossignol. Her in-house salon education at Lluminaire includes precision hair cutting, balayage, and L'Oréal color with Ryan Pepe. Lauren also is certified in Keratin Smoothing Systems.
An accomplished hair and make-up artist for bridal and other events, Lauren’s freelance work includes the Johns Hopkins Carey School of Business, Ruth Shaw benefit for Kennedy Krieger Institute, fashion shows for The Baltimore School for the Arts and The Well benefit.

Leila Woods joined Lluminaire Salon in 2012. A senior cosmetologist who is experienced with multi-cultural hair, Leila is trained in the art of relaxers and specializes in the Keratin Complex Smoothing System. She is certified in Natural Keratin Smoothing Therapy, Keratin Express Blow-out, and Keratin Personalized Blowout techniques. Leila also is skilled in many forms of hair extensions, including clip-in and sew-in extensions, and she is certified in Donna Bella Tape-in and Donna Bella Micro-link methods as well as Sherri Renée Parisian Hair Enhancements.
Leila’s training at the L’Oréal Professional Academy in New York includes “Foundations of Color” and “Discover Your Inner Artist” as well as coursework and certifications in “Color Play” and balayage. Leila completed a precision cutting class at the Redken Exchange in New York and an ABC1 cutting course with the Vidal Sassoon Academy in Toronto. She received her make-up certification through the Von Lee International School of Aesthetics in Pikesville.

Pooneh joined Lluminaire Salon in 2015 after relocating to Baltimore from Scottsdale, Arizona, where she spent 15 years working with designers.
Bringing a trained, artistic eye to the art of balayage and other hair color creation, Pooneh understands that each client has individual needs. She believes consultation is very important prior to her painting on each “beautiful canvas.”
A graduate of the Robert Paul Academy of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences in Lutherville, Pooneh is also committed to continuing professional education. She completed a week-long cutting course at Vidal Sassoon Academy in Toronto, as well as several color and balayage classes at L’Oréal Academy in New York. Pooneh’s training also includes a balayage class with Joseph Mullen, master colorist and ambassador of Eugene Perma; and a master series class “Tru Beauty – Pioneers of Painting,” featuring Ian McCabe and Christine Silverman. In addition, Pooneh is certified in Keratin Smoothing Systems.
Pooneh’s balayage artistry has been featured in a “Tried and True” column of Baltimore Style magazine.
Lluminaire Salon is pleased to welcome new artist Samantha Geiss.
A graduate of the Robert Paul Academy of Cosmetology Arts and Sciences in Lutherville. Samantha has entered a mentorship program with the certified educators at Lluminaire Salon specializing in balayage highlighting technique, precision haircutting, and is also certified in Keratin Smoothing Systems.
